Weekend Update...
So, I rarely post weekend updates.  I don't know why, as I have many fantastic weekends that deserve updates.  That said, I am doing a weekend update this weekend because I felt that this one deserved it more than most.

Saturday, two separate friends of mine were married.  (Congratulations [info]mischifthefool  and [info]loyal_incarnate!) I had actually intended to go at least part of both weddings, but, due to some really rotten circumstances, I only ended up making it to Mischif's. (I had actually left his wedding a little early, and had even phoned [info]jconstantine to let someone know I was on my way.  Then, I got a phone call from home.  Let's just say that teenagers know how to cause drama at really bad times.  And yes, that's all I'm going to say.  It was a rotten way to have to miss a wedding party.)

Mischif's wedding was really great.  There weren't enough people there, which is weird to say for a wedding, but I really enjoyed seeing the people that were.  I ended up hanging out  with [info]0mega0rigin and his friend, Brenna.  (Who was really cool, by the way.  If I had known that  [info]0mega0rigin actually had some cool friends outside the gaming circle, I might not have given him such a hard time for so long! ;) )

I actually recorded the ceremony.  I'm going to put it up on Youtube asap.  I can already tell you that you will have difficulty seeing anything.  The lighting was set really, really low, and my camera just couldn't compensate.  However, the audio turned out quite well, so you could hear what was going on, including something that I would have sworn could not possibly happen.  Seriously.

If you know Mischif, you'll know that his sense of humor is... different.  I mean, he believes he has successfully told a joke when people are lying on the floor, not with laughing, but with groaning!  The puns are truly spectacular in their deadliness.  This time though, if you watch the video, it will get to a point where Jessica, Mischif's lovely bride, started getting too choked up to repeat the vows.  Here's the crazy part.  Mischif's sense of humor SAVED THE VOWS!!  He leaned forward, told a joke, got her laughing, and the wedding continued uninterrupted from there!  Let's all give him a round of applause!  Good job, brother!

I only stayed a very short time at the reception, as my plan was to go on to Loyal's reception from there.  However, I did make another short video entry of the bride and groom's cakes.  Once again, very low lighting, but you can see a little.  That video is already up on Youtube, here.

After short congratulations once the bride and groom emerged from photos, I jetted on my way to Loyal's wedding reception.  As stated, I didn't make it.  However, after all the family drama had finally died down, I made up for missing the reception by making some rather stiff drinks for my wife and myself, and we retreated into our inner sanctum.  That actually turned out okay.

SHUT UP, [info]jconstantine!  Dirty mind.

Sunday turned out to be a truly fantastic day.  My wife and I were too exhausted to get to church.  I was initially bummed about that, but the rest did us good.  We lounged around, recovering from our stressful week, until about 10 a.m., then went and got breakfast.  After that, on a lark, we decided to make our two teenagers babysit the boys, and we got out of the house. We went to Fort Worth, and just walked around, visiting shops, browsing, just being adults.  All I ended up buying was a small, but really nifty collection of spices, and a recipe for some appetizer dip. When Jenny and I got home, we kicked all the kids out of the living room, put on some classical music, and just relaxed.  I used the dip recipe, and let's just say that the dip turned out to be some of the best I have ever had, and I do not feel bad that I say that, even though I made it myself.  While Jenny and I nibbled on some chips and the dip, I used my new spices to cook some boneless beef ribs.  Once again, I have to say, they turned out to be unexpectedly fantastic.  Throw in some homemade dacquiries, and the night turned out to be really, really good.

(The experience with the new spices was so good that I don't mind giving the little shop's website some free advertising.  The shop is called Old Texas Spice Traders, and www.oldspicetraders.com is their websites.  We had made it all the way to the Stockyards by then in our Fort Worth ramblings, and that's where we found the place.  Trust me, the shop itself is well worth the visit, but you can order anything they have online at their website too.)

After the previous weekend, part of which we spent with [info]jconstantine, and then this one spent in the company of other friends, and even just alone with my wife, I am reminded me how much I miss adult company, of how much I miss being an adult..  I love my kids, madly, but I have started making it known to my wife that the isolation is getting to me.  You folks may start seeing me around more often.  Just warning you.

Anyway, stay tuned, and I will get the ceremony video, bad lighting, Mischif humor and all, up as soon as I chop it into Youtube satisfactory chunks.  I love you guys!
